Recipe Box

This original wooden Recipe Box was designed and built by ShyMask Studios

It is laser cut for sharp, clean edges, and then methodically assembled by hand and secured with wood glue.  The layered plywood is .2 inches thick and was chosen for visual appeal.  The bottom box half is 3.5 inches high with an additional 1 inch lid (front half), making this box a total of 4.5 inches tall.  It is 6.75 inches across, and 4 inches deep.  A pair of hinges connect the box to the lid.

In the age of instantaneous technology, a hinged wooden box for keeping recipe cards may seem archaic to some.  To others, it’s a place to hide treasure maps to meals.  (And yes, if you want it customized to say “Treasure Maps to Meals” instead of “Recipes”, it can be customized.)  There’s some things you pass down, not hand out.  Those prideful, personal recipes that have stayed in the family for five generations need something better than that cheap plastic flash card bin you buy at the thrift store!  And when the internet gets bombed back into the stone age you’ll need an original blueprint to great aunt Brambles Custard Pie, or how will we rebuild!?  This isn’t just a box, it’s a potential heirloom so you can hand off that sacred turducken recipe you stole from your grandfather to your children who won’t even know what a turducken is otherwise!  Do it, for the children.
